Key responsibilities & impact

Lead Centene's AI innovation and strategic technology partnerships function
Provide enterprise technical leadership for high-value AI use cases
Shape partner platforms and vendor harnesses to meet Centene's needs
Translate AI opportunities into technical strategies, reference architectures, prototypes, and scaled solutions
Partner with business, data, engineering, security, governance, Procurement, Legal, and Enterprise Architecture leaders
Define technical strategy and integration requirements for vendor AI harnesses
Shape joint vendor roadmaps, co-development priorities, and platform extensions
Evaluate emerging vendor capabilities through diligence, architecture reviews, prototypes, and competitive testing
Drive vendor harnesses toward open, composable, portable, interoperable, observable, and extensible patterns
Define use of Centene's AI control plane, agentic framework, AI Gateway, enterprise context layer, trusted data products, and engineering platforms
Establish technical quality standards for prototypes and production solutions
Convert platform gaps into roadmap priorities
Transition innovation efforts into durable products with ownership, support models, adoption plans, performance measures, and value tracking
Advise senior leadership on AI trends, architecture, vendor dependencies, investments, and model/platform capabilities
Represent Centene in strategic technology partnerships and external forums
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree
12+ years of related experience, including significant leadership experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, enterprise architecture, technology strategy, product innovation, software engineering, cloud platforms, data and analytics, or a related discipline
Equivalent experience acquired through accomplishments of applicable knowledge, duties, scope and skill reflective of the level of this position may substitute for the degree and experience requirement
10+ years experience leading enterprise technology initiatives, AI/ML solutions, software engineering, cloud platforms, data and analytics, enterprise architecture, or technology strategy, including executive-level leadership responsibilities
Demonstrated experience translating complex business opportunities into scalable technical solutions through AI, automation, advanced analytics, and emerging technologies preferred
Experience working within healthcare, managed care, or other highly regulated industries, including implementation of secure, compliant, and scalable AI solution preferred
