About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage delivery of the Eyes on Russia flagship open-source research project
  • Design and operationalise project management mechanisms, including planning, progress tracking, risk management, reporting, and learning
  • Design team structure and roles to ensure appropriate expertise and resources for effective delivery
  • Oversee donor communications regarding budgets, expenditure, risk management, and contract administration
  • Design project budgets aligned with workplans, CIR cost-recovery targets, and donor approval requirements
  • Develop financial forecasts, oversee expenditure, and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Collaborate with Project Leadership, technical staff, and the MEL team to develop and maintain a MEL framework, Theory of Change, Results Framework, and data collection and synthesis mechanisms
  • Generate solutions to strategic and day-to-day project delivery challenges while maximising impact, complying with donor regulations, staying within budget, and motivating staff
  • Ensure compliance with policies on data protection, cyber security, anti-corruption, safeguarding, conflict sensitivity, and the Code of Conduct
  • Support business development by identifying funding opportunities, building client relationships, and preparing proposals, bids, and tender submissions
  • Support hiring and recruitment through team planning, candidate assessments, interviews, and onboarding
  • Work within a multi-donor, multi-year programme with a globally distributed team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale projects to deadline, within budget, and with evidenced measurable impact
  • Substantial experience implementing projects funded by the UK government and knowledge of associated policies, regulations, and operating procedures
  • Strong understanding of project planning, financial management, impact reporting, and risk mitigation
  • Experience managing and motivating interdisciplinary and multinational teams
  • Experience building strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, including donors, beneficiaries, and partner organisations
  • Fluency in English
  • UK Security Check (SC) clearance, or eligibility to obtain it
  • Desirable: proven track record delivering research, capacity-building, or communications projects
  • Desirable: experience safeguarding investigators and ensuring data security during sensitive research
  • Desirable: contextual knowledge and experience
  • Desirable: experience working in Ukraine or with Ukrainian state institutions
  • Desirable: experience delivering projects in conflict-affected or fragile settings
  • CV with a brief note about availability and areas of expertise
  • Ability to work full time, 5 days per week, Monday to Friday
  • UK-based
