About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Communicate design requirements with internal and external design team members, contractors, and equipment sales representatives to determine project scope and feasibility.
  • Develop design approaches and concepts with input and oversight from senior staff.
  • Participate in client, company, and industry events to build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Develop an understanding of industry standards, technical policies, and company-specific project execution procedures.
  • Perform calculations and design basic engineering systems in collaboration with experienced design staff.
  • Create system layouts, detail drawings, schematics, and schedules using Revit, AutoCAD, or other software.
  • Model lighting system luminaires, controls, and circuiting for normal and emergency lighting.
  • Model power system circuiting and feeders for receptacles, equipment connections, and power distribution.
  • Develop panel loading, service loading, voltage drop, and fault current calculations.
  • Model components for telecommunication, fire alarm, security, and lighting protection systems.
  • Prepare and modify studies, plans, reports, specifications, and project designs.
  • Assist project managers and design teams with project coordination and facilitation among architects, contractors, engineers, and other team members.
  • Provide operating procedures and technical information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university and 3 or more years of relevant experience is required; Master’s degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering, or similar discipline, can substitute up to 1 year of work experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, AEC industry, codes and standards is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
  • Computer skills necessary to enter daily timesheet data and use Microsoft Outlook for email correspondence.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Prior experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Visual Lighting, SKM Power Tools, and BlueBeam Revu.
  • Travel may be up to 25% as directed by supervisor.
  • Criminal background checks and drug/alcohol checks are required.
  • Must be able to work in the United States; organization participates in E-Verify.
