About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform technical assignments using standard engineering design techniques for small, intermediate, and large projects.
- Complete assigned project tasks so projects finish on time, within budget, and consistent with industry production and care standards.
- Mentor and coach junior staff, senior team members, and other engineers across teams or practices.
- Provide technical oversight and guidance, including document production and submittal review.
- Lead projects or programs from concept through completion.
- Communicate design requirements and assist project managers with coordination among architects, contractors, engineers, equipment manufacturer representatives, and other team members.
- Perform calculations and design advanced building systems.
- Guide teams in preparing design documents across multiple disciplines.
- Ensure document production quality meets scope, schedule, and budget.
- Oversee quality review, review in-progress work, facilitate drawing preparation, and ensure accuracy and neatness.
- Attend owner, client, or architect meetings and visit project sites to verify existing conditions or observe construction progress.
- Maintain advanced knowledge of engineering design, AEC codes, standards, regulations, and practices through training and self-study.
- Apply local, state, and federal regulations, codes, and standards to project designs.
- Participate in client, company, and industry events to build professional relationships.
- Supervise junior engineers and support their ongoing growth.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university and 10 or more years of relevant experience is required; Master’s degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering, or similar discipline, can substitute up to 1 year of work experience.
- Advanced knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, AEC industry, codes and standards is required.
- Experience creating and maintaining engineering standards and tools is required.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license is required.
- Computer skills necessary to enter daily timesheet data and use Microsoft Outlook for email correspondence.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Deltek, Autodesk Revit, Visual Lighting, SKM Power Tools, BlueBeam Revu, and other applicable design software.
- Criminal background checks and drug/alcohol checks are required.
- Must meet applicable work authorization requirements for the United States, as the organization participates in E-Verify.
