About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide financial oversight, critical analysis, and process improvement support to the Plant General Manager and direct reports
- Provide timely and accurate financial and operational reporting with corresponding analysis
- Establish and maintain high levels of internal control over reporting practices
- Establish procedures ensuring plant personnel understand and follow financial policies
- Direct accounting processes, annual planning, spare parts reviews, fixed assets, maintenance activities, and turnarounds
- Manage internal and external audit requirements
- Supervise and direct month-end and year-end close processes
- Ensure accurate fixed-assets accounting, capitalizations, retirements, internal order classification, and accrual reviews
- Lead monthly cost review meetings comparing actual results with plan and prior periods
- Prepare annual budgets and contribute to forecasting updates
- Oversee cost statements, accounting statements, operational reports, and production and accounts-payable invoice recording
- Supervise clerical and professional staff
- Account for, manage, and report on local capital and maintenance spending
- Perform and review monthly inventory costing and reconciliations
- Manage the local plant Accounts Payable function and analyze aging reports
- Prepare management, director, government, tax, and audit reports and analyses
- Provide leadership, coaching, and process oversight for plant accounting
- Advise stakeholders on accounting implications, internal-control risks, and compliance
- Establish, implement, and monitor departmental internal-control processes and corrective actions
Requirements
What you’ll need- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance related
- 10+ years supervisory experience in manufacturing accounting
- Experience at manufacturing plants with a high level of complexity, including a high volume of capital projects, multiple products with an intricate manufacturing process, and supporting multiple departments within a plant
- CPA/MBA and public accounting experience preferred
- Ability to work independently and be self-directed
- High level of self-motivation with the ability to understand and follow detailed instructions
- Ability to function effectively while meeting deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and administrative skills
- Proficient in PC use within a Windows environment
- Intermediate knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with SAP accounting systems desired
- Knowledge of fundamental accounting concepts and practices of GAAP
- Knowledge of current information and technology and FASB & AICPA governing bodies affecting functional areas
