About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the service’s technical and financial activities
  • Develop and monitor the shared service budget
  • Manage a team of 9 employees involved in the development, monitoring, and dissemination of European projects
  • Engage the network of Chambers of Agriculture to encourage their involvement in European projects
  • Identify projects of interest to the network and promote their outcomes for the benefit of farmers and advisors
  • Contribute to the development of new projects, from identifying relevant topics through to final submission
  • Act as a project partner or, where appropriate, project lead
  • Provide regular technical and financial activity reports to the governing bodies
  • Monitor opportunities for new calls for proposals and assess their relevance
  • Strengthen partnership relations with national R&D stakeholders on European issues
  • Prepare and facilitate the shared service’s steering and governance meetings
  • Reports to the Head of Innovation, Research and Development within the Network Services Directorate

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Scientific background, with an interest in agricultural issues
  • Proven experience in developing and managing multi-stakeholder projects
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary and remote teams
  • Strong knowledge of European project funding frameworks, including Horizon Europe and Interreg
  • Knowledge of national and European R&D stakeholders
  • Comfortable facilitating project teams, monitoring finances, and preparing reports
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Well-organized, able to report effectively to management, and committed to meeting deadlines and obligations
