About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Advise APAC hedge accounting clients on the design and implementation of hedge accounting strategies
  • Provide consultation to clients at senior accounting and finance levels
  • Manage a client portfolio and advise on hedging strategies
  • Run and analyze hedge effectiveness tests
  • Draft hedge designation memoranda
  • Create inputs for future journal entries and provide monthly reporting
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for clients and colleagues
  • Assess financial statement impacts of proposed hedging strategies
  • Develop expertise in hedge accounting and the economics of interest rate, foreign currency and commodities hedging
  • Conduct technical accounting research and contribute to research on evolving accounting guidance
  • Facilitate periodic accounting deliverables using Chatham’s in-house technology platform
  • Provide derivative fair values, journal entries, effectiveness tests, disclosure support and related deliverables
  • Work with treasurers, CFOs, controllers, partners and audit firms
  • Answer client questions, conduct research and discuss complex topics with key personnel
  • Collaborate with hedge accountants, derivatives specialists and financial risk advisers in Australia and Chatham’s global offices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Australian citizens and permanent residents, or those with a valid Visa with permission to work
  • A recognised professional accounting qualification, such as CA, CPA, ACA or an equivalent qualification
  • 5 years’ total experience with 0 to 3 years of post-qualified experience in financial reporting, auditing or technical accounting advisory
  • Good working knowledge of IFRS, particularly IFRS 9
  • Willingness to learn complex economic and accounting strategies and conduct technical accounting research
  • Client-service orientation
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills
  • Ability and desire to use Chatham-approved AI tools responsibly while applying professional judgement and complying with confidentiality, data security and quality-control requirements
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
