About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide full-cycle accounting support for multiple nonprofit clients, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance
- Prepare month-end close workbooks and complete statement of financial position reconciliations
- Issue monthly financial statements
- Meet client deadlines and submit work to compliance and quality control on time
- Apply nonprofit revenue recognition guidance for exchange transactions, contributions, and donor restrictions
- Review investment statements and prepare investment roll-forwards
- Support grant management and reporting requirements
- Coordinate audit preparation, including schedules, audit support, and final audit deliverables
- Assist with Form 990 preparation and other local, state, and federal filings
- Prepare specialized reporting to support client decision-making
- Assist with financial analysis, cash flow forecasting, and budget preparation under the guidance of a Controller
- Work under the guidance of the Client Services Manager in a fully remote environment
Requirements
What you’ll need- Full-time position open to candidates based in the United States, excluding residents of California
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- CPA license preferred
- Minimum of five years of general accounting experience
- Public or outsourced accounting experience preferred
- Nonprofit accounting experience preferred
- Experience in audit preparation
- Strong command of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles
- Ability to manage recurring accounting processes accurately and consistently
- Ability to work within established procedures, compliance requirements, and quality control standards
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines across client accounts in a remote environment
- Clear written communication for documentation, reporting, and audit support
- Ability to work professionally and independently from home while contributing to a team-oriented virtual environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, QuickBooks Online, and BILL
- Willingness and ability to become proficient with Sage Intacct and other third-party applications
