About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support administration of the Outreach and Education team’s award programs focused on environmental education and systemic environmental literacy
  • Sustain collaborative partnerships with non-profit, state, federal, and community partners
  • Support refinement and/or development of Requests for Proposals and other program materials
  • Advertise award programs across Maryland and the Chesapeake Bay watershed to identify potential applicants
  • Identify applicant support needs, encourage applications, and help develop project ideas and proposals
  • Respond to prospective applicants and aid with the application process
  • Incorporate sustainable practices considering future climate change impacts
  • Manage contractors providing technical assistance
  • Facilitate analysis and review of program applications
  • Prepare grant summary reports and analysis for Technical Review Committees, funding partners, and the Board of Trustees
  • Administer awards ranging from $2,500 to potentially $150,000
  • Prepare grant agreements and contracts
  • Assist awardees with project issues and review status and final reports
  • Approve payments and review revision requests
  • Work with awardees to report successes, overcome obstacles, and achieve project outcomes
  • Report products to funding partners, the general public, and Trust staff
  • Develop professional development activities, including conferences, seminars, symposia, and publications
  • Advance recommendations from the Trust’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice advisory committee and internal action team
  • Report to the Program Manager for Environmental Literacy and Workforce Development

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A minimum of three years of demonstrated experience and a track record of success with supporting, coordinating, or implementing environmental education, environmental literacy, or related programs and initiatives
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining partnerships with stakeholders
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to advance shared goals
  • Experience engaging and supporting under-engaged, under-represented, and/or historically excluded communities is preferred
  • Strong organizational and strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, balance short-term and long-term objectives, and think creatively to develop innovative solutions
  • Exceptional project and time-management skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage complex processes with attention to detail
  • Experience managing budgets and contracts
  • Ability to maintain accurate financial and programmatic records
  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to learn and effectively utilize online grant-management systems
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Residential address in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, or Washington D.C.
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
  • Must not require sponsorship for work visas
