About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead ChicagoCAC’s individual giving and annual fund strategies
  • Build meaningful donor relationships to strengthen engagement, retention, and revenue
  • Develop, execute, and evaluate multi-channel annual fundraising campaigns, including email, peer-to-peer, direct mail, recurring giving, and events
  • Develop donor segmentation, testing, and engagement strategies
  • Manage a portfolio of annual fund donors, focusing on donors giving $1,000–$2,500 annually
  • Create and oversee donor stewardship activities, including acknowledgement calls and emails, handwritten notes, greeting cards, and donor impact communications
  • Manage corporate engagement strategies, including in-kind giving and resource drives
  • Qualify and develop prospective donors and advance qualified prospects into appropriate fundraiser portfolios
  • Conduct regular portfolio reviews with frontline fundraisers
  • Document prospect activity, interactions, moves, and stage transitions in Raiser’s Edge
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports on donor trends, pipeline health, portfolio performance, and fundraising progress
  • Supervise, coach, and support the Development Coordinator
  • Oversee gift entry, donor acknowledgements, annual tax communications, recurring giving, and stewardship processes
  • Partner with Development and Marketing & Communications colleagues on donor-facing materials, including the Annual Impact Report
  • Plan and execute in-kind resource drives with internal teams
  • Participate in assigned duties and organizational fundraising and community events

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of relevant fundraising, nonprofit development, or related experience; or at least eight years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • Demonstrated experience developing funder communications
  • Excellent professional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage deadlines, deliverables, and competing priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to build strong working relationships and collaborate effectively with donors, colleagues, program staff, and internal teams
  • Curiosity, adaptability, sound judgment, and a solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving
  • Experience using fundraising databases, prospect research tools, and/or other systems to track relationships and funding opportunities preferred
  • Experience engaging organizational leadership, board members, or volunteers in donor cultivation and solicitation preferred
  • Experience within victim services, child welfare, behavioral health, human services, or related fields preferred
  • Supervisory experience managing and supporting a Development Coordinator
  • Willingness to participate in organization fundraisers and ChicagoCAC-sponsored client, staff, and community events
