About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Process data into comprehensive reports and produce accessible information for different departments in the authority
- Analyze complex data systems and document data elements, data flow, relationships, and dependencies
- Create and refactor SQL stored procedures
- Optimize internal SQL scripts using performance tuning methods
- Modify SQL Open Queries for ySQL (Yardi Internal Scripting)
- Manage and update the FreshService ticketing system
- Update SSRS paginated reports, including data source and dataset updates via stored procedures
- Design, develop, test, and deploy reports for Power BI development and administration
- Develop automated and reusable routines for extracting requested information from database systems, with documentation and source control for business logic and dependencies
- Create and manage Power BI Server semantic models and architecture
- Use measures, calculated columns, variables, and optimization techniques
- Use DAX and Power Query to model fact and dimension tables
- Compile detailed reports using Power BI, Crystal Reports, SSRS, and SQL
- Understand business requirements and develop corresponding data models
- Develop, publish, and schedule Power BI reports
- Connect to data sources, import and transform data into visuals and reports for Business Intelligence
- Integrate Power BI reports into other applications using embedded analytics, Power BI service (SaaS), or API automation
- Develop custom Power BI visuals and implement row-level security and application security layer models
- Partner with business analysts, application architects, and application developers to build data transaction and warehousing systems
- Perform data gathering, cleaning, prototyping, designing, and requirement analysis
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field
- Minimum of five (5) years hands-on experience with SSMS / SSRS/ Power BI
- Extensive knowledge in SQL Development and underlying data structures
- Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server
- Familiarity with one or more database query languages, such as SQL Stored Procedures or equivalent
- Ability to collaborate with management, users, peers, and other stakeholders to identify report requirements, user and technical requirements, solution designs, technical architecture, and delivery in accordance with the CHA reporting specification
- Excellent verbal, oral and written communication skills
- Organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to interface with developers, management and other ITS personnel and communicate knowledge to audiences of diverse technical abilities
- Complex and quantitative problem-solving skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Thorough knowledge of relational database theory and practice
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with data systems teams
- Tableau and GIS experience is a plus
- Enthusiasm and drive to learn Yardi Reporting
