About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Research, identify, and evaluate local, regional, and national foundation, corporate, and government grant opportunities aligned with CJC’s mission
  • Maintain and update CJC’s funding calendar, including deadlines, reporting requirements, and renewal opportunities
  • Write, edit, and submit grant applications, letters of inquiry, proposals, budget narratives, and reports
  • Collaborate with the CEO and Programmatic Leadership team on special campaigns and strategy sessions
  • Develop proposal concepts and narratives using data, program metrics, and operational details
  • Monitor active grants for programmatic deliverables, reporting milestones, and financial compliance
  • Work with the Director of Operations and Strategic Initiatives to submit progress reports to funders and dashboard reporting for board meetings
  • Support core fundraising operations and database management

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3+ years of proven success in nonprofit grant writing, prospect research, and grant management
  • Experience within workforce development, human services, or policy advocacy in Illinois/Chicago is a strong plus
  • Excellent persuasive writing and editing skills
  • Budgeting literacy
  • Organizational skills
  • Strict attention to detail
