About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide comprehensive care at an advanced practice level to children and their families
- Perform comprehensive histories and physical exams and identify normal and abnormal findings
- Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests
- Develop pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans
- Serve as an educational resource for patients, families, health care professionals, and students
- Facilitate patient referrals to medical providers, facilities, and health/social service agencies
- Collaborate and consult with physicians and other health care providers
- Provide care within a collaborative practice model under the supervising/collaborating physician
- Participate in professional development and maintain professional competence and credentials
- Assist in developing education for the department/practice
- Participate in continuous quality improvement and comply with hospital and departmental policies
- Support compliance with National Patient Safety Goals and Joint Commission requirements
- Work two 12-hour shifts and one 8-hour shift per week, mostly at Arthur M. Blank Hospital
- Provide coverage every 3rd weekend
Requirements
What you’ll need- No minimum experience required
- 2 years of experience in pediatric healthcare preferred
- Doctorate degree in Nursing Practice or Master’s or Doctorate degree in Medical Science preferred
- Master's degree in nursing or bachelor's degree in medical science
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Georgia or Multi-State through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact and APRN licensure in Georgia, or licensure as a Physician Assistant in Georgia
- Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by ANCC, AANP, PNCB, or NCCPA; Family Nurse Practitioner certification may be acceptable with CNO approval
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association upon hire
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 60 days of hire for specified Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, with NRP certification permitted in lieu of PALS for Neonatology
- Proficient knowledge of Georgia Scope of Practice for Nurse Practitioners and/or Physician Assistants
- Knowledge of Joint Commission regulatory requirements and credentialing process
- Excellent written, spoken, and presentation communication skills
- Organizational and interpersonal skills
- Personal and professional integrity; collaborative and respectful behavior; flexibility and willingness to change
