About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide comprehensive advanced-practice care to children and their families
  • Perform comprehensive histories and physical examinations
  • Identify physical, cognitive, and psychosocial findings
  • Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests
  • Develop pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans
  • Educate patients, families, healthcare professionals, and students
  • Facilitate referrals to medical providers, facilities, and health/social service agencies
  • Collaborate and consult with physicians and other healthcare providers
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and maintain competence and credentials
  • Conduct self-evaluations of advanced-practice skills
  • Assist with department/practice education development
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement and comply with hospital and departmental policies
  • Support compliance with National Patient Safety Goals and Joint Commission requirements
  • Work variable shifts, including heavy evening and weekend work

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • No minimum experience required
  • 2 years of experience in pediatric healthcare preferred
  • Doctorate degree in Nursing Practice or Master’s or Doctorate degree in Medical Science preferred
  • Master's degree in nursing or bachelor's degree in medical science
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the single State of Georgia OR Multi-State through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure in the state of Georgia OR licensure as a Physician Assistant in the state of Georgia
  • Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by ANCC, AANP, PNCB, or NCCPA; Family Nurse Practitioner certification may be acceptable with CNO approval
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 60 days of hire for applicable Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants
  • Knowledge of Georgia Scope of Practice, Joint Commission regulatory requirements, and credentialing processes
  • Excellent written, spoken, and presentation communication skills
  • Organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Personal and professional integrity; collaborative and respectful behavior; flexibility and willingness to change
