About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate high-quality medical care for children and adolescents
  • Assist the Director of Clinical Pathology/Chief of Pathology with laboratory administration
  • Hold multiple high-complexity CLIA licenses for outpatient laboratories
  • Participate in the hematopathology service
  • Serve in medical directorship duties
  • Provide patient care within the respective clinical area in accordance with bylaws, policies, and procedures
  • Participate in quality improvement and incorporate research findings into practice
  • Provide or serve as a resource for patient, family, and staff education
  • Educate and assist trainees with medical decision making
  • Authenticate reports of physician services and maintain accurate, complete records
  • Complete documentation and ensure timely communication for patient care and reimbursement
  • Respond to patient and clinical staff questions and requests
  • Participate in meetings and activities supporting clinical-area operations
  • Participate in professional development activities
  • Perform other responsibilities as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Doctor of Allopathic or Osteopathic Medicine
  • Successful completion of post-graduate pathology residency training program
  • Board certified or eligible in Clinical Pathology
  • Board certified or eligible in Hematopathology
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Georgia
  • Experience in the respective clinical area preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and families and as a team member
  • Meets eligibility requirements for credentialing as part of the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Professional Staff
  • Technical excellence and good interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge and interest in immunology highly desired
  • Interest in informatics, molecular genetic pathology, or pediatric pathology desirable
  • Ability to complete and maintain BLS, PALS, or NALS certification
  • Ability to maintain additional specialty training/certifications as required
