About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support nurses, physicians, and other hospital staff in administering holistic care to patients with injuries, illnesses, or disabilities
  • Assist with day-to-day patient care tasks
  • Perform multiple roles on the designated unit
  • Provide clerical, secretarial, and housekeeping support
  • Collaborate with nurses, physicians, patients, ancillary services, and internal and external customers
  • Provide quality patient care

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Clinical work experience in a healthcare environment, or completion of CNA, EMT, or Medical Assistant training, or student nurse with at least one quarter or semester of clinical experience
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management Certification within 90 days of hire
  • Knowledge of computer systems and software used in the functional area
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English effectively for safe and effective job performance
  • Ability to follow computer downtime procedures
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to prioritize assigned tasks and meet expectations
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to function in unpredictable or crisis situations
  • Ability to think critically, work independently, manage multiple assignments, work under pressure, problem solve, organize and prioritize workload, recall information accurately, and pay close attention to detail
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required
  • Ability to lift and carry 25–35 lbs and push/pull 50–100 lbs
  • Preferred: post high school healthcare education classes
  • Preferred: enrollment in nursing school with one quarter or semester of clinical experience
  • Preferred: bilingual ability
  • Preferred: previous hospital/mental health experience related to de-escalation and creating a safe, therapeutic environment
