Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute sales plans to achieve sales goals and increase profitability through sales, marketing and consulting processes
  • Evaluate customer programs and develop sales and marketing plans to meet complex business needs and grow the business
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, distribution, operations, technical staff and credit teams
  • Build positive long-term relationships with suppliers and customers to generate repeat business
  • Provide consultative services using customer relationships and product, marketing and technical skills
  • Prepare sales presentations, contracts, bids and proposals
  • Provide training to staff and customers
  • Handle customer complaints and inquiries professionally
  • Lead sales projects and mentor less experienced sales staff
  • Develop and apply knowledge of multiple products
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow safety policies and regulations
  • Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance with unsafe conditions
  • Collaborate with other DAP divisions to leverage relationships and grow the CHS enterprise
  • Contribute to operational initiatives and related duties to maintain workflow and customer satisfaction
  • Engage farmers, ranchers and producers through on-farm sales presentations for crop protection, crop nutrients, seed products and related services

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of Sales, Business Development, and/or Sales Business Operations
  • 2+ years of Ag Retail selling experience, including agronomic field work, presentations, persuasive negotiation skills, customer service, conflict resolution, and working independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite: Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • Strong mathematical aptitude
  • Ability to formulate precise fertilizer and chemical recommendations
  • Proactive approach to sales and customer service
  • Must complete applicable pre-employment screenings if required
  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Business, Communications, Marketing, or related field preferred
