About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute sales plans to achieve sales goals and increase profitability through sales, marketing and consulting processes for products and services
- Evaluate current customer programs and develop sales and marketing plans to meet complex business needs and grow the business
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, distribution, operations, technical staff and credit to improve sales-call impact, efficiency and profitability
- Build positive long-term relationships with suppliers and customers to create repeat business
- Identify needs and provide consultative services using established relationships and product, marketing and technical skills
- Prepare sales presentations, contracts, bids and proposals
- Provide training to staff and customers
- Cross-sell multiple product lines and apply the CHS sales cycle to achieve targeted results
- Handle customer complaints and inquiries courteously and professionally
- Lead sales projects and mentor less experienced sales staff
- Develop product knowledge and apply it across job responsibilities
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture; follow safety policies and communicate or correct workplace hazards
- Perform other assigned duties
- Present crop protection, crop nutrients, seed products and related services to farmers, ranchers and producers through on-farm sales presentations
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma and/or GED
- At least 2+ years of sales, business development, business operations or related experience
- Agronomy sales experience preferred
- Bachelor's degree preferred in agriculture, business, or related field
- Outside sales experience including presentations, persuasive negotiation skills, customer service, conflict resolution, and working independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office Suite: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Strong mathematical aptitude
- Ability to formulate precise fertilizer and chemical applications
- Must pass applicable pre-employment screenings if required, potentially including drug, criminal, motor vehicle, physical requirements and FMCSA Clearinghouse checks
