About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maintain environmental programs, policies, procedures, and documentation
  • Stay current with applicable environmental regulations and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements
  • Perform hazardous waste determinations, review reports, and provide RCRA compliance guidance
  • Determine data collection methods, compile data, perform calculations, and conduct QA/QC on scientific reports
  • Prepare graphs, charts, and statistical models from collected data
  • Analyze data to assess environmental conditions, establish standards, and develop approaches to control environmental impacts
  • Coordinate and/or support projects involving environmental analysis
  • Perform tasks under the SWPP, SPCC, and FRP plans; review and update plans as necessary
  • Assist with environmental liability cost estimates and financial assurance documentation
  • Represent CHS McPherson Refinery during agency audits and inspections
  • Use refinery computer programs for environmental tracking, expense reporting, budgeting, and health and safety metrics
  • Support refinery operations with day-to-day environmental guidance
  • Oversee and direct contractors on project scope, execution, and reporting
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and respond to environmental questions, guidance requests, and emergencies
  • Monitor the work-area budget
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow safety policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of Environmental work experience
  • Knowledge/working understanding of environmental regulations including Clean Water Act, TSCA, Clean Air Act and others
  • Must reside within approximately 50 miles of the refinery
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Related refining industry experience
  • Hazwoper 40-hour certification
  • Experience leading Environmental projects to evaluate environmental conditions
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including respirators
  • Must pass pre-employment screenings if required, including drug, criminal, motor vehicle, physical requirements, and/or FMCSA Clearinghouse checks
