About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Participate in a comprehensive 24-month development program focused on oilseed processing and ethanol production operations and engineering
  • Rotate through unique experiences at different CHS locations
  • Contribute to the day-to-day physical operation of CHS facilities
  • Develop understanding of operational processes
  • Support facilities in prioritizing and optimizing KPIs
  • Support and guide plant management with projects, drawing reviews, equipment specifications, operational narrative preparations, and employee training
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts
  • Review production data for accuracy and identify facility improvements
  • Plan design and development projects, preparing engineering documents, calculations, drawings, material lists, construction schedules, and operating instructions
  • Optimize processing efficiency and reduce energy and material costs while adhering to safety requirements
  • Provide project management support and supervise construction crews
  • Coordinate project communications with supervisors, engineering teams, facility department managers, and outside consulting agencies
  • Travel to other CHS locations for instructional purposes and continued growth and development

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Agriculture, Chemical, Mechanical, Bioproducts and Biosystems, etc.)
  • 0-3 years’ experience
  • Willingness to relocate for future growth opportunities and/or business demands is required
  • Demonstrate and promote safety
  • Good problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to adjust to multiple demands, shifting work priorities, ambiguity, adversity, and change
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
  • Must be well organized, goal orientated, and self-directed
  • Demonstrates mechanical and analytical interest with strong problem-solving skills

  • Basic understanding of refinery process controls and specific equipment involved in the process control
