About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Coordinate and plan with seed production managers for timely supply, shipment scheduling, and customer delivery communications
  • Create and monitor seed shipments in logistics tracking systems
  • Identify and resolve trucking delays or issues with customers and suppliers
  • Manage freight negotiations and communicate with the freight team on daily logistics activities
  • Expedite product transportation and troubleshoot issues
  • Research, establish and maintain routing and dispatch execution
  • Optimize routes and contain costs, minimizing out-of-route and empty miles
  • Provide customer service and support to business units and stakeholders using order tracking, sales, logistics and inventory management systems
  • Develop and maintain strategic carrier relationships
  • Monitor seed quality assurance and work with suppliers through seed production contract completion
  • Maintain records and prepare reports during shipping seasons and year-end activities
  • Liaise between client plants, terminal storage facilities, internal sales/marketing and customers to meet sales and delivery execution goals
  • Promote a strong safety culture, follow safety policies and regulations, and identify and address workplace hazards
  • Perform other assigned seed operational responsibilities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School diploma or GED
  • 4+ years of experience in Supply Chain and Procurement and/or Transportation and Logistics
  • Knowledge of the seed industry & quality practices
  • In-depth understanding of standard shipping practices of bulk and packaged seed
  • Proficient in MS Office suite
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong working relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with logistics tools and ERP systems
  • Selected candidates may be required to pass pre-employment screenings, including drug, criminal, motor vehicle check, physical requirements and/or FMCSA Clearinghouse screening
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Business, Economics, Manufacturing, Logistics, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Statistics or related field
