About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist patients and patients’ families in understanding and accessing community resources for medical, behavioral health, education, and employment barriers
  • Provide counseling, therapy, and/or psychotherapy to patients and families
  • Prepare treatment plans and discharge plans
  • Provide crisis intervention and emergency services as required
  • Document patient and patient-related sessions in the electronic health record system
  • Interpret psychiatric treatment plans and information to patients’ families
  • Serve as a link between patients, psychiatric agencies, and the community
  • Present case information to the Behavioral Health Director and health care team regarding family and social background relevant to diagnosis and treatment
  • Provide or arrange therapeutic interventions for patients in crisis and patients with ongoing mental health problems
  • Provide age-appropriate care across pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations
  • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments, DSM-5 and ICD-10 diagnoses, and outpatient behavioral health treatments
  • Apply domestic violence, child abuse, and dependent/elder abuse protocols
  • Maintain patient, employee, and company confidentiality
  • Promote teamwork, partnership, recognition, mutual respect, collaboration, and company values
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, or related field
  • Current and Unrestricted Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist issued by California Board of Behavioral Sciences
  • Three years of prior experience in a healthcare setting
  • Current and valid CPR certification, or ability to attain certification within six months of employment
  • Basic computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft applications, e-mail, and Internet
  • Native American hiring preference applies
  • Quality Orientation: Setting high standards regarding his/her work and working environment and acting accordingly, developing quality standards, continuously evaluating performance, products, and procedures, and actively seeking ways to improve quality
