About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Shuffle and deal hands of cards to players as appropriate for the assigned game
- Provide exceptional guest service using proper greetings, smiles, eye contact, and a friendly demeanor
- Create a welcoming entertainment experience by inviting guests to play, teaching games, conversing with guests, and providing Resort information
- Attract table game activity during “dead spreads”
- Watch betting and verify antes or bets placed or increased
- Review and compare active hands to determine winning hands
- Collect spent cards and shuffle, re-shuffle, or re-deal as needed
- Converse with guests and assist card game cashiers to settle bets
- Check cards and players for illegal activity or gaming-rule violations and notify supervisors or security
- Assist with seating players and summoning cashiers
- Explain card-playing and betting rules
- Work closely with security, surveillance, and other gaming Team Members
- Deal and shuffle cards with dexterity, including use of a box or shoe
- Size and count gaming tokens or chips accurately and quickly
- Maintain the table bank
- Read and count cards and hands while conversing with guests and handling bets without distraction
- Detect and correct betting or card-play mistakes
- Assist guests in summoning Beverage Servers
- Tally and account for the bank and playing cards at shift start/end or when requested
- Promote teamwork, partnership, recognition, mutual respect, collaboration, and One.Team.Chumash values
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED Certificate
- Advanced knowledge of various types of table games
- Knowledge of applicable regulations, rules, and procedures
- Basic computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft applications, e-mail, and Internet
- Willingness to work flexible schedules in a 24/7 work environment, including holidays, nights, and weekends
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency
- Must also apply for, receive, and maintain a Tribal Key License through the State of CA Gambling Control Commission
- Native American hiring preference applies
- Quality Orientation: Setting high standards regarding his/her work and working environment and acting accordingly; developing quality standards, continuously evaluating performance, products, and procedures; actively seeking ways to improve quality
