About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop, monitor, and provide guidance on activities related to the environmental licensing of Cimento Nacional’s facilities and projects.
- Lead and monitor processes for obtaining, renewing, maintaining, and expanding environmental licenses.
- Analyze legal requirements, license conditions, studies, and documents related to environmental licensing processes.
- Monitor compliance with license conditions, statutory deadlines, and environmental commitments, ensuring that obligations established by the competent authorities are met.
- Act as a liaison with the Environmental, Social Responsibility, Legal, and other departments involved in these processes.
- Monitor processes with the relevant environmental authorities, conducting analyses, submissions, discussions, and follow-up on requests.
- Interpret and apply current environmental legislation, particularly the requirements and procedures applicable in the state of Minas Gerais.
- Analyze the information and specific characteristics of each operating unit, identifying licensing-related needs, risks, and opportunities.
- Evaluate environmental technical studies and documents, contributing to the identification of impacts, control measures, and environmental offsets.
- Support the definition and monitoring of strategies to meet the requirements of licensing processes.
- Organize process information, documents, and controls, ensuring traceability and compliance with established deadlines.
- Prepare and monitor indicators, reports, and controls related to environmental licensing.
- Identify improvement opportunities and contribute to the continuous development of licensing processes.
- Absorb, analyze, and consolidate information from different units and processes, considering the specific characteristics of each site and the Company’s priorities.
- Liaise with consulting firms, suppliers, public authorities, and other stakeholders as needed.
- Work with a sense of urgency, organization, and prioritization, ensuring compliance with statutory and internal deadlines.
- Be available to travel between Cimento Nacional’s facilities in Minas Gerais.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geography, Biology, or a related field.
- Active and regular registration with the relevant professional council, where applicable.
- At least 5 years of experience in environmental licensing or related activities.
- Knowledge of environmental licensing processes and procedures in the state of Minas Gerais.
- Knowledge of environmental legislation applicable to the company’s activities.
- Availability to travel and commute between facilities in Minas Gerais.
- Class B driver’s license.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation and environmental licensing processes.
- Knowledge of licensing process stages, required environmental studies, and their respective Terms of Reference.
- Knowledge of environmental impact assessment, including impact identification and evaluation, analysis methods, and the proposal of control measures and environmental offsets.
- Knowledge of geoprocessing and GIS tools.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with environmental licensing processes in mining, industrial, cement, or other activities with significant environmental impact will be considered an advantage.
