About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and run studies establishing what Circadia's platform does for patients and costs
- Own studies end to end: frame questions, choose designs and comparators, run analyses, and publish results
- Analyze hospital readmission rates, fall rates, time to clinical intervention, emergency department and inpatient utilization, length of stay, total cost of care, and clinician productivity
- Own clinical evidence and health economics, including peer-reviewed publications and ROI/cost-avoidance analyses
- Establish standards for making and substantiating company claims
- Collaborate with the Chief Scientist, analytics team, and clinical teams at customer facilities
- Scope studies using operational data, defining questions, cohorts, observation periods, and endpoints
- Select and defend observational and quasi-experimental designs when randomization is unavailable
- Build comparison groups, baselines, and risk-adjustment approaches
- Write prespecified analysis plans and define study claims
- Own IRB submission, human-subjects determination, conflict-of-interest, and AI-assistance disclosure
- Shape future deployment data collection for publishable studies
- Analyze Medicare claims, EHR, platform, and customer operational data
- Apply matching, causal inference, and mixed-effects methods
- Evaluate confounding, selection bias, immortal time bias, and balance diagnostics
- Translate Circadia operations and billing into claims-detectable logic
- Define and report ROI and cost avoidance; conduct subgroup analyses
- Draft and publish manuscripts in journals such as JAMDA and JAMIA; manage peer review and revision
- Produce conference abstracts, white papers, and commercial evidence while maintaining consistent claims
- Present findings to clinical, payer, and executive audiences and support customer and partner conversations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Industry research experience is required; experience cannot be entirely academic
- MSc or PhD in epidemiology, health services research, biostatistics, health economics, public health, or a related quantitative field
- 5+ years producing real-world evidence, outcomes research, or health economics work in a company, consultancy, payer, or provider setting
- Experience with health economics and outcomes research, including cost, utilization, ROI, or cost-avoidance analysis alongside clinical endpoints
- Ability to translate technical findings into clear narratives for executives, customers, and payers
- Track record of peer-reviewed publication, ideally in a clinical specialty or informatics journal
- Command of observational and quasi-experimental study design and its limitations
- Proficiency with R or Python and SQL
- Comfort with large, messy healthcare datasets
- Clear scientific writing and experience carrying a manuscript through peer review
- Especially valuable: experience with Medicare, Medicare Advantage, skilled nursing, or senior care populations
- Especially valuable: working knowledge of Medicare claims structure and CMS post-acute quality measures (SNFRM, PPR)
- Especially valuable: experience in remote patient monitoring, medical devices, or digital health
- Especially valuable: experience evaluating AI or machine learning models in a clinical workflow
- Especially valuable: experience measuring clinician workload, documentation burden, or workflow efficiency
- Especially valuable: experience in a startup
- Especially valuable: familiarity with IRB pathways and reporting standards such as SQUIRE 2.0
- Especially valuable: experience working with actuarial firms or third-party claims datasets
