About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own financial accounting across the UK and US
- Own month-end close, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
- Act as first point of contact for auditors and manage audit requests
- Prepare supporting schedules under UK GAAP and IFRS
- Lead technical accounting projects including IFRS 15 revenue recognition, capitalisation policy and intercompany transactions
- Support reporting across UK and US entities
- Perform intercompany reconciliations and contribute to group consolidation in NetSuite
- Manage the UK outsourced accounting firm's relationship and review its output
- Work directly in NetSuite and understand data flows across systems
- Review and control automated and AI-generated finance output
- Identify opportunities for further automation
- Improve systems and controls, collection cycle, DSO, revenue recognition, R&D capitalisation and consolidation processes
- Resolve technical issues and take ownership of monthly and quarterly close
- Build stronger reporting, outsourced-work oversight and financial controls as the company scales
Requirements
What you’ll need- Qualified or near-qualified accountant: ACA, ACCA or CIMA
- Strong technical accounting foundations
- Experience getting the most out of NetSuite
- Experience working in a finance team to produce accounting information
- Ability to work autonomously and conscientiously to meet deadlines
- Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS
- Clear understanding of how a set of accounts is put together
- Comfortable working across systems
- Genuine interest in how AI is changing finance
- Practical curiosity about reconciliations and processes
- Motivation to take on breadth and ownership in a growing business
- Interest in technology, software, robotics and physical manufacturing
- Likely practice training at a Big 4 or top 20 firm, or existing industry experience as a qualified or near-qualified accountant
