  • Forecast when factories will run out of work or capacity
  • Model work flows through factory-scale robotics systems
  • Identify bottlenecks and evaluate the value of additional machines or process changes
  • Estimate order costs in labour, machine time and parts
  • Help set prices and lead times
  • Decide which parts and consumables to stock, when to order them and acceptable shortage risk
  • Deploy models into planning and quoting systems
  • Validate models against actual outcomes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Quantitative background in operations research, applied maths, statistics, quantitative finance, economics or a similar field
  • Record of models that changed real decisions
  • Knowledge of linear and integer programming, constraint programming, or heuristics
  • Judgement about when a simple rule beats a solver
  • Experience building, calibrating and evaluating simulation and forecasting models
  • Strong Python and SQL
  • Ability to write reliable, runnable code
  • Experience using coding agents to move faster and take full ownership of outputs
  • Curiosity about how things are physically made
  • Willingness to spend time in factories in the US and UK
