About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the effective operation, oversight and continuous improvement of Ontario’s Common Collection System, focusing on the City of Toronto and Peel Region
  • Ensure contractual, operational and regulatory requirements are met across participating partners, including the CCS Operator (RLG) and service providers
  • Liaise with the CCS Operator, City of Toronto, Peel Region and service providers regarding agreements, regulatory obligations, day-to-day operations, change orders and issues
  • Identify opportunities for improved material recovery, cost savings, service delivery, process improvements and pilot projects
  • Document and share findings and help develop new best practices
  • Provide support to other Eligible Communities in Ontario as required
  • Develop subject matter expertise in requirements associated with Ontario Regulation 391/21
  • Develop deep understanding of Master Services Agreements and Statements of Work
  • Prepare accurate, timely and data-driven reports, including field service activity reports
  • Collaborate with CM Post Collection and Material Quality and Innovation teams
  • Support project management tasks and deliverables for the CCS team and Manager of the Common Collection System – ON
  • Attend events and third-party meetings as necessary

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Residency in Ontario, Canada
  • Bachelor’s degree, college diploma or equivalent management experience in a related field is required
  • 4+ years' experience working in a regulated environment related to recycling collection systems, including contracts, operating standards, performance metrics and performance outcomes
  • Knowledge of procurement and contract management processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, Visio, SharePoint, Teams, Excel and Jira
  • Proven experience managing competing priorities with multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent attention to detail, planning and execution skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Experience working with senior executives, service providers and municipal representatives
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment where change, growth and innovation are constant
  • Professional judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to creatively solve problems
  • Ability to translate technical information into factual and understandable messages
  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance required
  • Experience and/or knowledge of First Nations consulting and contracting practices and processes would be considered an asset
