About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and development of an on-premises data platform on Kubernetes
- Development and integration of components for data orchestration, deployment, and platform automation
- Creation of proofs of concept, preferably with the support of AI agent tools
- Implementation of batch and streaming data pipelines as well as platform-related services
- Integration of workloads on Kubernetes and S3-compatible storage solutions
- Evaluation of data catalogs and their integration into the platform
- Close collaboration with lead architects as well as infrastructure and security teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree in computer science or a comparable qualification
- Several years of experience with Kubernetes, Kubernetes infrastructure, and Linux operating systems
- Experience with on-premises Kubernetes, not only AWS and other public cloud providers
- Experience creating proofs of concept and the ability to implement them independently
- Knowledge of modern data platform architectures such as Kappa and Medallion
- Knowledge of batch and low-latency streaming pipelines
- Practical experience with some of the following languages: Python, Golang, SQL, Rust, Bash, and Java
- Experience with several of the following tools and technologies: S3, Apache Iceberg, Kafka/Redpanda, NATS.io, Dagster, Spark, Flink, and Airflow
- Proficient in working with Linux, Linux containers, and Kubernetes
- Ideas for implementing data management platforms at the edge without public cloud services
- Several years of professional experience as a data scientist is a plus
- Very good spoken and written German
- Analytical thinking, an agile mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and a pronounced solution-oriented approach
