About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Operate, maintain, and further develop existing Elasticsearch clusters
- Perform minor and, where necessary, major upgrades
- Plan and implement migrations, including RHEL 8 to RHEL 9 and data migration to new Elasticsearch clusters
- Design and implement reliable, automated, and monitored snapshot and restore processes for Elasticsearch
- Revise and expand Ansible playbooks and Rundeck automations for Elasticsearch operations
- Automate user management and HashiCorp Vault integration
- Set up test environments and evaluate a potential migration from Elasticsearch to OpenSearch
- Develop and expand Ansible playbooks for OpenSearch
- Test OpenSearch features not previously used, such as Document Level Security
- Develop and validate approaches for migrating from Elasticsearch to OpenSearch
- Optionally revise and further develop Ansible playbooks for other platform areas, such as Python hosting or Redis
- Work closely with the existing team
Requirements
What you’ll need- Hands-on experience operating Elasticsearch or OpenSearch clusters
- Strong command of Ansible, including creating and extending playbooks and roles
- Strong knowledge of Linux servers, ideally RHEL
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools, ideally Grafana and Telegraf
- Structured, independent approach to work
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly
- Very good spoken and written German
- Availability for part-time work
