About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage the Commercial Operations Team and own the performance of the commercial operations function
  • Report to the COO
  • Manage, develop, and grow the Commercial Operations Lead
  • Own the health of revenue systems and CRM data
  • Ensure sales compensation and commission calculations are accurate, timely, and clearly explained
  • Own deal desk, including approval frameworks, discount guardrails, and order-form standards
  • Own the forecast process, including cadence, inputs, model, and committed-number accuracy
  • Build and maintain pipeline, conversion, and sales productivity analytics
  • Run win/loss and churn analysis and translate findings into sales changes
  • Design dashboards and metric definitions for leadership
  • Analyze pricing, packaging, and discounting performance
  • Build pricing and packaging models, including revenue and margin scenario analysis
  • Partner with Sales, Product, and Finance on monetization changes
  • Establish and steward discount governance
  • Lead cross-functional growth initiatives from problem framing through implementation
  • Support GTM planning, capacity modeling, quota setting, and goal architecture
  • Identify commercial inefficiencies and drive process and tooling improvements
  • Partner with the COO and CFO on board and investor reporting
  • Own KPI definitions, data lineage, and reporting consistency
  • Build executive narratives from business data
  • Support financing and strategic-process diligence and reporting

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5–8 years of experience in management consulting, business operations, revenue operations, or strategy & operations, including time inside a software company
  • Demonstrated people management experience, including managing at least one direct report
  • Track record of owning an ambiguous analytical problem end to end and driving resulting change to completion
  • Expert-level financial and operational modeling in Excel or Google Sheets
  • Working fluency with a CRM (Salesforce or equivalent) and a BI tool (Looker, Tableau, Sigma, Power BI, or similar)
  • Command of SaaS and GTM metrics, including ARR, NRR/GRR, pipeline coverage, CAC payback, LTV:CAC, win rate, sales cycle, and magic number
  • Ability to present to a COO, CEO, or board as a peer
  • Superb written and verbal communication
  • High degree of autonomy and self-management
  • Hands-on fluency with modern AI tools
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Preferred: located in US Eastern Time zone
  • Preferred: startup or high-growth company experience
  • Preferred: enterprise B2B experience with complex sales cycles and six- and seven-figure contracts
  • Preferred: prior experience at a top-tier management or strategy consulting firm
  • Preferred: SQL proficiency and direct data warehouse querying
  • Preferred: sales compensation design and commission administration experience
  • Preferred: board and investor reporting experience at a venture-backed company
  • Preferred: CPQ, quote-to-cash, or revenue recognition exposure
  • Preferred: interest in materials science, chemistry, manufacturing, or deep-tech markets
  • Preferred: MBA or comparable analytical training
