About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Coordinate at a senior level with the sales team to establish, build, and sustain business banking relationships with companies generally generating less than $20 million in gross sales
  • Drive success and growth within the assigned sales territory
  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for the Bank and oversee client interactions
  • Participate in credit underwriting, portfolio management and review, risk/credit grading, and risk identification and management
  • Service portfolios, monitor covenant compliance, and monitor collateral
  • Meet and exceed individual and team sales goals for deposits, loans, and other metrics
  • Expand existing relationships and solicit new business through referrals and cold calling outside the banking center
  • Analyze credit checks and perform preliminary financial statement analysis to assess potential creditworthiness
  • Lead sales professionals and ensure achievement of sales and revenue targets
  • Generate, identify, qualify, and prioritize prospects while nurturing the existing book of business
  • Contact the top 20 loan and deposit clients monthly to maintain relationships and identify cross-selling opportunities
  • Research existing clients to uncover additional cross-selling opportunities
  • Increase core deposits and contribute to loan funding
  • Develop expert-level sales proposals and strategies
  • Maintain market and competitor knowledge and a strategic outlook for business growth
  • Establish, expand, and maintain referral sources
  • Plan pre-call activities and prepare worksheets for joint client appointments
  • Assess clients' financial needs using tax returns, credit reports, personal financial statements, and debt schedules
  • Document relationship management processes
  • Guide clients on financial issues and recommend suitable solutions
  • Advocate for clients in securing credit and cross-selling products and services
  • Evaluate and document business, management, industry, financial, and structural risks in credit approval documents
  • Organize and lead complex sales initiatives and customized proposal generation
  • Build and maintain relationships with partners
  • Support banking center success through sales campaigns, banking center activities, and community organizations
  • Structure and complete secured and unsecured business loans, comply with policy, and present deals to the Risk team
  • Participate in branch meetings, weekly joint calls or prospecting sessions, coaching sessions, and required coaching documentation
  • Follow S.A.F.E. Act procedures and notify Human Resources of changes in current status

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5-7 years of bank business development experience
  • 2+ years of bank lending experience, including credit analysis
  • Highly capable of meeting sales goals, performing independent direct banking sales and credit support, and maximizing cross-sell opportunities and relationship profitability
  • Exceptional consulting skills; ability to probe, listen, clarify, and present information to advance sales transactions and deepen relationships
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to assimilate complex financial and company operating information
  • Professional presentation skills
  • Strong working knowledge of credit structuring and processing; credit trained preferred
  • Highly effective communication and influence skills
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Excellent business development skills
  • Intermediate PC skills, including Microsoft Office software and referral tracking programs
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration
