About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Manage the daily activities of the department, including staff supervision
Manage systems and institute and maintain procedures for ordering and reviewing appraisals and environmental audits
Ensure compliance with Bank policies and regulatory requirements
Recommend adding or removing appraisers and consultants from the Bank’s Approved Appraisal & Environmental List
Act as liaison to appraisers and consultants in the Appraisal & Environmental Audit industry
Engage commercial appraisals and residential appraisals over management-defined thresholds
Work with Relationship Managers and Underwriters to match appraisers and consultants to engagements
Communicate valuation concerns to appraisers and develop well-supported and credible values for lending purposes
Work with Underwriters and other personnel to address appraisal questions and determine the need for additional documentation
Conduct administrative or technical reviews of appraisals over thresholds or as requested
Maintain appropriate documentation in the Bank’s files for each appraisal review
Keep abreast of regulatory requirements
Maintain systems to ensure all appraisals are reviewed before loans close
Escalate issues or concerns to management promptly
Conduct asset evaluations where applicable

Requirements

What you’ll need

8-10 years of commercial property appraisal review experience for a financial institution or private sector
Excellent verbal and written communication, organization, and presentation skills
Exceptional project management skills
Effective prioritization and follow-through on commitments
Ability to work effectively in teams or independently
Ability to quickly grasp new technology
Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines
Clear, pleasant, and understandable speaking voice
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Positive, upbeat attitude
Dependable, reliable, and strong work ethic
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Real Estate, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant professional experience in lieu of a degree
