About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide intensive and extensive tutorial services for elementary school youth
  • Improve academic capabilities in designated subject areas
  • Assist the Site Supervisor in delivering City of Orlando after-school and/or summer programs
  • Support the educational, behavioral, and financial objectives of the program
  • Lead, monitor, and/or supervise educational and enrichment activities
  • Ensure the safety of youth, staff, families, the public, and the program facility
  • Prepare and provide reports as required
  • Work under the direction of the City of Orlando Site Supervisor
  • Work according to school-year and summer schedules
  • Perform work indoors and outdoors as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree and current teacher certification in the State of Florida required
  • One (1) year of experience in an organized educational, recreation or leisure services field required
  • Equivalent combination of related training and experience accepted
  • Valid Florida driver’s license required
  • First Aid/CPR certification desired
  • Certification by the Florida Recreation and Park Association desired, but not required
  • Must meet the minimum qualifications listed in the position description
  • Four (4) years of direct experience may apply in lieu of a bachelor's degree
  • May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Exposure to extreme heat, insects, and weather conditions may occur
