About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review installations against approved drawings, including levels, dimensions, soil volumes, compaction, layering and connections
- Own BuildPass review for all North American projects; approve or reject evidence, raise non-conformances and verify corrective actions
- Maintain photographic and inspection records sufficient to defend warranty claims
- Run pre-installation meetings with contractors covering sequencing, materials, tolerances and inspection points
- Brief and, where needed, certify contractors new to Citygreen systems
- Check drawing packages for buildability and return unsuitable packages to the Design Studio
- Coordinate landscape architects, civil and stormwater engineers, utilities, city public works and urban forestry departments
- Brief the design team and check its output against site reality
- Answer technical questions from the sales team during design and specification stages
- Join client and specifier meetings where technical credibility is important
- Build relationships with specifiers and contractors in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle
- Serve as technical and construction lead for North America
- Make independent technical decisions and escalate matters when appropriate
- Potentially grow into full project delivery, including running installed projects, supervising subcontractors, and owning programme and margin
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years in the landscape industry, with training in landscape architecture, landscape technology or landscape construction; civil construction backgrounds are also considered
- Hands-on site supervision of landscape installation as a site superintendent, construction manager or contractor-side project manager; landscape architects with substantial construction administration and site experience are also welcome
- Practical knowledge of excavation, compaction, drainage and soil profiles, and how pavement, utilities and tree soil interact below ground
- Track record of directing landscape or civil crews and holding them to scope and quality
- Confidence reading and marking up landscape and civil plan sets, including levels, sections, soil and drainage details, utilities and pavement build-ups
- Accountability for schedule, change orders or margin on at least one real project
- Clear written communication; credibility with landscape architects and engineers; firmness with contractors
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Current driver's license
- Willingness to travel regularly along the West Coast and occasionally to Canada and Australia
- Experience with soil cells, structural soil or similar systems (nice to have)
- Urban tree planting and establishment experience (nice to have)
- Landscape contractor or landscape architecture network in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco or Seattle (nice to have)
- Knowledge of California contracting, licensing and municipal processes or Caltrans standards (nice to have)
- Experience with construction QA platforms such as BuildPass or Procore (nice to have)
- AutoCAD or Civil 3D viewing and markup (nice to have)
- HubSpot or NetSuite experience (nice to have)
