About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver a variety of building projects across the UK in residential, education, commercial, leisure, net zero/low carbon and regeneration sectors
  • Provide mechanical engineering design, analysis, calculations and drawing input
  • Supervise apprentices and graduates from time to time
  • Identify problems and opportunities and resolve issues using qualitative and quantitative measures
  • Conduct feasibility studies, cost estimates and risk assessments for proposed designs
  • Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, contractors and other stakeholders to integrate mechanical systems
  • Contribute to high-quality written reports
  • Prepare and present technical data, drawings and tenders under supervision
  • Use industry-standard analysis and calculation software
  • Participate in internal reviews
  • Self-check work and check others’ work
  • Comply with Designer duties under the CDM Regulations 2015 and the practice QMS
  • Communicate clearly with internal and external peers and clients
  • Manage project timelines, budgets and resources
  • Contribute to sustainable, coordinated and technically robust building-services MEP projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experienced mechanical engineer
  • Good understanding of Building Services MEP
  • Keen eye for technical detail
  • Proactive, organised and collaborative approach
  • Ability to produce accurate, coordinated and well-presented designs and models
  • Ability to provide engineering discipline design, analysis, calculations and drawing input
  • Ability to identify, assess and resolve problems using qualitative and quantitative measures
  • Ability to conduct feasibility studies, cost estimates and risk assessments
  • Ability to collaborate with architects, structural engineers, contractors, clients and other project stakeholders
  • Experience using industry-standard analysis and calculation software
  • Ability to prepare and present technical data, drawings and tenders
  • Ability to comply with the duties of Designer under the CDM Regulations 2015
  • Ability to comply with the practice QMS, including self-checking
  • Ability to manage project timelines, budgets and resources effectively
