About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for budgeting, cash and credit management, and accounting
  • Coordinate and direct financial planning, budgeting, procurement, and investment activities
  • Prepare financial information
  • Prepare or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial forecasts, budgets, and regulatory reports
  • Evaluate procurement-of-funds needs and investment of surpluses
  • Monitor financial ratios and key performance indicators
  • Monitor and evaluate accounting and financial staff performance, recommending and implementing actions
  • Advise management on short- and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions
  • Communicate regularly with boards, bankers, investors, and constituents
  • Prepare for and/or host board presentations
  • Work directly with clients as part of CLA's CAAS practice to provide customized accounting services supporting business growth and management

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree is required; combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree
  • 7 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience is required
  • Manufacturing industry experience is highly preferred
  • Public accounting experience preferred
  • CPA certification preferred but not required
  • Thorough working knowledge of accounting software and systems
  • QuickBooks experience highly preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and applicable software
  • Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (FASB/SFAS) or other comprehensive basis of accounting
  • Strong organizational skills, goal orientation, and self-motivation
  • Ability to handle pressure in a positive professional manner
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Clear, concise, and considerate communication
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and value diverse contributions
  • Proven success managing work and key client relationships to exceed client expectations
  • Primarily in-office work, including local travel to/from client sites and occasional non-local or overnight travel
  • Combination of related experience, education, and training may substitute for the required degree
