About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the primary day-to-day accounting contact for state and local government clients
- Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously, ensuring timely and accurate client deliverables
- Coordinate and review complex account reconciliations, including cash, receivables, and grant activity
- Provide advisory support related to budgeting, forecasting, financial management, internal controls, and process improvement initiatives
- Assist clients with annual audits by preparing workpapers, schedules, and supporting documentation, and serving as a liaison with external auditors
- Support grant compliance, federal and state reporting requirements, and other regulatory obligations
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes through technology, automation, and best practices
- Mentor, coach, and review the work of associates and analysts while promoting professional development
- Build strong client relationships through proactive communication, responsiveness, and trusted business advisory services
Requirements
What you’ll need- 2 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience is required
- Bachelor's degree is required
- Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree
- Experience in UMAS accounting is highly preferred
- Comfortable in fast paced environment and skilled in multitasking
- Strong desire to deliver impeccable client service
- Passionate about problem solving
- Constant curiosity and desire to learn
- Ability to travel to local client sites as needed
- CPA and/or CGA certification preferred but not required
