About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support project start-up activities, including tendering and bid evaluations, subcontractor kickoffs, utility and site service applications, permitting, stakeholder communication, quantity take-offs, and project scheduling
- Support project execution and document control activities, including RFIs, SIs, Submittals, CRXs, and COs
- Support implementation and maintenance of the project QA/QC plan
- Facilitate, record, and distribute meeting minutes and follow up on action items and commitments
- Monitor and coordinate trade scopes of work, including tracking productivity, progress, and performance
- Assist with on-site problem solving and support the RFI process
- Gain exposure to and support basic project accounting activities
- Support strong relationships with trade partners, consultants, clients, and other project stakeholders
- Participate in project planning, coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Support Project Managers and Superintendents across all aspects of the construction process
- Help ensure project milestones and deadlines are achieved
Requirements
What you’ll need- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field
- Interest in construction, project coordination, and working in a field/site environment
- Previous construction, project coordination, or related work experience is considered an asset but is not required
- Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills, with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges
- Familiarity with construction software, processes, or project management tools is considered an asset; prior experience is not required
- Must be willing and able to work full-time in Red Deer, Alberta for the duration of the work term
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage deadline-driven tasks in a fast-paced construction setting
- Understanding of Lean thinking, collaborative planning, and continuous improvement principles
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and construction documents
- Ability to adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
