About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support solution architects, software developers, data analysts, and data scientists on data and analytics initiatives
  • Lead client initiatives and collaborate with client stakeholders and technical teams to define and deliver data solutions
  • Design, develop, and optimize scalable data pipelines and architectures
  • Develop and maintain data models and schemas for analytics and reporting
  • Translate business requirements into technical data solutions
  • Ensure consistent, optimal data delivery architecture throughout projects
  • Identify improvements to data processes, scalability, performance, reliability, and automation
  • Lead, grow, and mentor data engineering teams
  • Assist with client solution definition, work estimation, proposals, and solution delivery
  • Contribute to project planning, status communication, and consulting activities
  • Travel an estimated 30–50% based on client and project needs
  • Work from a home office when not at a client site or traveling

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3+ years of experience in a Data Engineer or related data-focused role
  • Experience assembling large, complex data sets meeting functional and non-functional business requirements
  • Experience designing and implementing scalable data architectures, pipelines, and data solutions
  • Experience with data modeling and schema design, including star and snowflake schemas
  • Advanced SQL knowledge and experience with relational databases and query authoring
  • Experience building and optimizing big data pipelines, architectures, and data sets
  • Experience with root cause analysis on data and processes
  • Strong analytical skills with structured and unstructured datasets
  • Experience with data transformation, metadata, dependency, and workload management
  • Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and scalable big data stores
  • Experience with Databricks, Spark, Snowflake, Airflow, and Kafka
  • Experience with Azure or AWS cloud services
  • Experience with Scala, Python, Java, and/or C++
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated consulting and client-facing experience
  • Graduate degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or equivalent field
  • Experience in life sciences, consumer products, and/or retail is preferred
