About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the design of on-trend, affordable housing
  • Collaborate with interior designers, architects, engineers, vendors, and home-building facilities nationwide
  • Support residential design and product development initiatives
  • Develop and refine interior design concepts for functionality, safety, and aesthetic appeal
  • Select and coordinate interior finishes, materials, color palettes, and product offerings, including flooring, carpet, paint, cabinetry, and lighting
  • Design and specify interior architectural details such as built-ins, crown molding, shelving, and fireplaces
  • Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and construction documents
  • Develop space plans, sketches, design solutions, drawings, design documents, and project plans
  • Use CAD software and other design tools
  • Assist with artwork, furnishings, accessories, decorative elements, project budgeting, and cost estimation
  • Research design trends, products, materials, and industry innovations
  • Maintain partnerships with vendors and internal stakeholders
  • Perform other assigned duties and special projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related field preferred
  • Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered
  • 0-2 years of interior design or related experience
  • Foundational understanding of architecture, residential construction, design principles, and applicable building and safety codes
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated creative problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, with some overnight stay potentially required
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Work may require stooping, bending, crouching, crawling, pushing, and/or pulling
  • Must be able to communicate via phone, email, and in person and exchange accurate information
  • Ability to work in an environment that is not temperature controlled and may involve exposure to extreme temperatures
  • Work primarily involves sitting/standing, up to 4 hours at a time
