Director, Content Collections

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead, hire, onboard, and develop the Content Manager team
- Set operating rhythms, roadmap reviews, quarterly business reviews, coverage-parity readouts, and 1:1s
- Define the Content Manager role ladder and performance standards
- Create a Content Manager guild and own succession and continuity
- Own Clio's global legal content collection portfolio and multi-year content strategy
- Allocate budget, headcount, licensing spend, and partner-team capacity across jurisdictions
- Maintain global coverage competitiveness against AI-native players, legal publishers, and regional incumbents
- Set market-ready standards, launch readiness decisions, and jurisdiction investment trade-offs
- Own build/buy/license decisions with Secondary Content, Licensing, and Corp Dev
- Govern content surfacing across Clio Library, Clio Work, and Vincent
- Own the global framework for Vincent's research skill, source tiers, evidence requirements, evaluation methodology, benchmark questions, and quality gates
- Diagnose research-quality failures and drive remediation with responsible teams
- Own global metadata and structural standards, acceptance criteria, quality thresholds, citator requirements, freshness, reliability, data integrity, enrichment, and resilience requirements
- Partner with Product on roadmap translation, content plans, feasibility assessments, readiness gates, and portfolio priorities
- Consolidate Content Manager requests into a ranked demand queue for Data Ops and Content Engineering
- Represent Collections in planning cycles and secure capacity for pipeline, parser, and citator work
- Provide Data Ops visibility into volume, sources, launches, throughput, backlog, and cost per document
- Support enterprise pursuits, RFPs, renewals, customer escalations, and executive presentations
- Own investment cases, portfolio dashboards, competitive intelligence, and strategic upstream relationships
- Translate collection differentiation into product positioning and enablement
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years in legal publishing, legal data, or content/product leadership
- 3+ years managing managers or senior individual contributors
- Track record owning a multi-market or multi-product content portfolio with real budget authority and demonstrable ROI
- Demonstrated success delivering outcomes through partner teams they don't manage, ideally as the demand-side owner opposite an operations group and an engineering group
- Working knowledge of at least one major legal system in depth
- Direct experience with legal research products
- Genuine multi-jurisdiction experience is highly desirable
- Experience shipping AI-assisted or AI-native content workflows in production
- Credibility in front of enterprise buyers, global firms, and analysts
- Ability to represent a portfolio rather than a single product or market
