About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Advise UK customers on accounting and bookkeeping best practices for law firms, including client account management, office account bookkeeping, and VAT
  • Act as regional subject matter expert on client money compliance and SRA Accounts Rules
  • Lead resolution of complex client accounting issues and escalations, including reconciliations, client ledger corrections, and account migrations
  • Diagnose whether discrepancies result from user error, system configuration, or product issues
  • Collaborate with Support, Product, Engineering, Sales, Onboarding, Customer Success, and Support teams
  • Test UK-specific workflows and shape best-practice guidance for Clio’s accounting products
  • Deliver targeted training and specialised accounting advice sessions
  • Develop tailored bookkeeping and accounting workflows aligned with UK regulations
  • Help customers implement accounting setups and migrate from systems such as Xero and QuickBooks Online
  • Guide customers on integrations and configuration, including chart of accounts, bank feeds, and VAT settings
  • Serve as trusted accounting advisor throughout customer adoption journeys
  • Create customised training materials, documentation, and educational resources
  • Upskill EMEA teams and review support documentation for accounting accuracy
  • Propose accounting product improvements based on customer needs, feedback, and sales performance
  • Champion UK customer needs with internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Sales and prospects to position accounting consultancy and close opportunities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • At least five years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, including at least two years working with law firms or handling client money
  • Hands-on knowledge of the SRA Accounts Rules and how law firms manage client and office accounts
  • Solid understanding of UK VAT as it applies to law firms, including disbursements and Making Tax Digital
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and ability to analyse complex accounting processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to explain complex accounting and compliance topics in plain English
  • Proficiency in configuring and customising accounting software and integrations such as Xero, QuickBooks Online, or Sage
  • Recognised accounting qualification such as ACA, CA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA Ireland, or AAT is advantageous
  • Legal finance qualification or relevant law-firm finance experience is advantageous
  • Knowledge of accounting rules in other markets such as the Republic of Ireland is advantageous
  • Experience with conveyancing or probate accounting is advantageous
  • Experience advising small and mid-sized law firms is advantageous
  • Experience with cloud-based legal technology, accounting system implementations, or data migrations is advantageous
  • Understanding of REST API concepts is advantageous
