About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations using evidence-based assessment tools
- Diagnose and treat mental health conditions, including anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, OCD, ADHD, and personality disorders
- Prescribe, manage, and monitor psychiatric medications
- Assess treatment effectiveness, side effects, and patient adherence
- Develop, implement, and adjust individualized treatment plans
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary behavioral health team
- Coordinate care with therapists and other healthcare providers, including referrals when appropriate
- Provide patient education about diagnoses, treatment options, and medications
- Maintain timely, accurate, and thorough clinical documentation
- Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, organizational, state, and federal standards
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives
Requirements
What you’ll need- Active Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in applicable states
- DEA registration and prescribing authority in all states where patients are served
- Multistate licensure preferred, with primary clinical focus on Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience practicing as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
- Experience treating patients ages 13 and older
- Strong clinical knowledge of psychiatric disorders and evidence-based treatment approaches
- Demonstrated proficiency in psychiatric medication management
- Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills, with ability to build rapport in a virtual care setting
- Commitment to compassionate, culturally responsive, patient-centered care
- Experience with Athena One EHR and remote clinical workflows
- Maintain all required credentials and comply with applicable state and federal regulations
- Virginia providers requiring physician collaboration must obtain and maintain a collaborating physician at their own expense
