About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own and prioritise the Platform team's backlog across enablement, security, maintenance, observability and cost control
- Gather demands from engineering, business, security, compliance, telemetry and cost data and turn them into a prioritised backlog
- Shape and communicate the platform roadmap with the Lead Site Reliability Engineer
- Create infrastructure, tooling and migration stories with testable acceptance criteria
- Lead agile ceremonies and support delivery
- Own the sprint support rotation, including request intake, triage, escalation and capacity planning
- Track recurring support requests and convert them into roadmap items
- Plan and complete patching, upgrades, vulnerability remediation, observability improvements and migrations
- Track AWS spend as a product metric and prioritise cost-reduction changes without compromising reliability
- Drive adoption of self-service provisioning, developer environments and new tooling
- Identify and mitigate delivery and operational risks and cross-team dependencies
- Communicate planned changes, maintenance windows and deprecations to affected stakeholders
- Articulate the value of infrastructure investment to senior leadership and other stakeholders
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of 3 years as a Product Owner or Technical Product Owner, including meaningful time owning an infrastructure, cloud, DevOps or internal platform backlog
- Technical depth in cloud infrastructure sufficient to judge effort, risk and sequencing and challenge approaches independently
- Experience with AWS-managed estates and Terraform, or comparable experience elsewhere
- Experience owning a backlog with a meaningful and unpredictable share of unplanned work while maintaining planned delivery
- Experience delivering migrations, upgrades or decommissioning programmes focused on reducing risk, cost or operational burden
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and commitment to best practices
- Evidence of turning repetitive manual work into automation or self-service capability that teams adopted
- Exposure to cloud cost management (FinOps), including tagging and allocation, rightsizing, scheduling, reserved capacity or savings plans
- Experience in a regulated environment such as FinTech or financial services is desirable
- Relevant Product Owner qualification is strongly desirable
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to use and verify AI-generated outputs as drafts
- Ability to manage complex, cross-team technical initiatives and prioritise competing demands
