About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist in maintaining equipment and facilities in optimum operating condition
- Repair or replace inoperative equipment
- Assist with general maintenance, repairs, and alterations involving plumbing, carpentry, painting, and electrical work
- Repair doors, floors, floor coverings, walls, ceilings, windows, electrical switches, receptacles, light fixtures, commodes, wash basins, and showers
- Repair recreation/mess equipment and appliances
- Perform related maintenance and custodial duties
- Perform simple plumbing repairs, replace faucets and washers, repair toilet flushing devices, and clear clogged drains
- Perform light maintenance on air conditioning units and intermediate maintenance on facility equipment
- Assist with minor electrical repairs, including switches and boxes, and replace lights, fuses, and fixtures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Knowledge in general carpentry and painting
- General working knowledge of basic shop machines and their safe operating procedures
- Practical knowledge of general trades involved in maintenance work
- Familiarity with basic tools and materials required for routine repairs to buildings and ground structures
- Ability to perform light to moderate physical effort
- Ability to work from ladders using hand tools and/or portable power tools
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Must satisfactorily complete a Federal Background check and all pre-employment requirements
- Must register with the Selective Service System if applicable
- Resume or written application must be submitted in English
