About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Welcome customers and provide exceptional customer service
  • Maintain product knowledge and assist with merchandise selection
  • Respond quickly to customer concerns
  • Sell merchandise and demonstrate or explain technical features of items sold
  • Take periodic stock counts and participate in inventories
  • Replenish stock and maintain merchandise in a neat, presentable condition
  • Advise the supervisor or department head of customer requests
  • Receive cash, checks, credit cards, debit cards, and gift cards
  • Operate the cash register and provide accurate change
  • Balance the till at the end of the shift and submit sales records, money, stamps, checks, and charge slips
  • Perform price changes, markdowns, markups, and company promotions
  • Ensure proper displays, signage, and item labels
  • Follow loss-prevention policies and remain alert to shrink
  • Follow safety standards and emergency preparedness requirements
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and explain product literature
  • Ability to count, subtract, multiply, and divide for stocking and inventory purposes
  • High school coursework, a GED, or a high school diploma
  • Ability to routinely lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift 25 pounds
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Previous retail merchandising or cashier experience preferred
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Non-U.S. nationals must have resided within the United States or U.S. territories for at least three of the last five years, where applicable
  • Must satisfactorily complete a federal background check and applicable pre-employment requirements
  • Must participate in direct deposit/electronic funds transfer
  • Males born after 12/31/59 and at least 18 years old must be registered with the Selective Service System unless exempt
  • Resume or other written application format must be submitted in English
