About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide a full range of member service for all credit union services through a variety of channels
  • Develop, maintain and expand member relationships with Coastal Community Credit Union and other business lines
  • Achieve goals through effective sales and service initiatives
  • Use Coastal Connections interviewing skills to identify member needs and match them with appropriate products and services
  • Proactively identify and complete quality referrals across Coastal Community business lines
  • Perform MSR 2 duties, including opening memberships, selling registered and non-registered products, and cross-selling card products
  • Authorize transactions and provide overrides within assigned limits and authority
  • Resolve member concerns and escalate issues beyond authority to the Branch Manager or Assistant Manager
  • Provide service for transactions involving investments, registered products, personal lending products and creditor insurance
  • Listen to and engage members to understand financial needs and provide resolutions through information, product/service matching or referrals
  • Handle complex lending transactions and refer lending approvals or non-routine decisions when required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 3 years' financial services experience or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and experience
  • Successful completion of Coastal Community's MSR Level 2 exam
  • Completed CUIC 210 (Credit Union Consumer & Residential Mortgage Lending)
  • Completed CUIC 240 (Fundamentals of Personal Financial Planning)
  • Actively pursuing CUIC Fellowship Designation
  • Working knowledge of lending and deposit policies, practices, procedures and branch operations
  • Successful completion of Coastal Community's in-house sales program, Coastal Connections (Building Member Connections)
  • Solid knowledge of Credit Union operations, principles, and values
  • Solid understanding of the competitive environment in the financial marketplace and local communities within the region
  • Proven track record of achieving superior sales results
  • Working knowledge of lending application processing policies and procedures
  • Working knowledge of lending products
  • Advanced knowledge of credit union products and services, registered and non-registered products, banking system and loans origination system
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate clearly and concisely
  • Interviewing skills and ability to ask probing questions
  • Ability to multitask
  • Above-average keyboarding and internet/computer navigation skills
  • Ability to use judgment in developing recommendations/decisions impacting credit union operations
  • Previous call centre experience is an asset
