About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Independently manage a defense litigation caseload from inception through resolution
- Represent regional and national clients throughout California
- Handle general liability and product liability matters
- Conduct plaintiff, fact witness, and expert depositions
- Prepare clients and witnesses for depositions and trial
- Draft and respond to written discovery
- Review and analyze complex discovery requests and case materials
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents
- Conduct legal research and develop case strategy
- Participate in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and other proceedings as appropriate
- Assist with all aspects of trial preparation and trial support
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and internal case teams
- Maintain accurate and timely billing and case records
Requirements
What you’ll need- Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active license and good standing with the State Bar of California
- Minimum 3 years of litigation experience
- Defense experience in General Liability and/or Product Liability
- Demonstrated experience with depositions and motion practice
- Experience taking the lead in plaintiff and expert depositions
- Ability to independently manage cases and deadlines
- Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Ability to effectively manage multiple matters simultaneously
- Experience in General Liability Defense, Product Liability, Premises Liability, Personal Injury Defense, Complex Civil Litigation, Toxic Tort, Commercial Litigation, or Insurance Defense is especially relevant
