About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and implement scalable backend architectures, microservices, and RESTful APIs for mobile and web clients using Node.js and Python
  • Own service lifecycles from ideation and implementation through GCP/Firebase deployment and continuous optimisation
  • Deploy, monitor, and support LLMs and media workflows including STT/TTS and image, video, and audio processing
  • Manage model serving, inference performance, and latency/cost tradeoffs
  • Implement event-driven asynchronous systems using queues and tasks for heavy media and AI workloads
  • Simplify systems by removing unnecessary complexity and building maintainable architectures
  • Identify and resolve distributed-system bottlenecks to improve latency, throughput, reliability, and costs
  • Establish error handling, security practices, observability, testing, documentation, and code reviews
  • Debug issues and improve production stability and observability
  • Collaborate with Mobile, Frontend, Product, DevOps, and AI teams to ship features end to end

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3+ years of professional experience as a Backend Engineer
  • Track record of building consumer-facing products at scale
  • Strong hands-on proficiency in Node.js and Python
  • Deep understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and system design
  • Experience designing and working with microservices architectures and RESTful APIs
  • Understanding of databases, data modelling, performance optimisation, and security best practices
  • Hands-on experience with cloud environments such as GCP, AWS, or Azure; GCP and/or Firebase preferred
  • Strong production debugging and observability habits
  • Experience deploying and optimising AI models in production
  • Familiarity with external AI APIs and performance considerations
  • Ability to contribute effectively in high-scale environments handling large volumes of traffic and data
  • Proficiency in English and Turkish
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Nice to have: mobile app backend API experience; GCP tools; Docker and Kubernetes; CI/CD and DevOps; SSE or WebSockets; Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS
